James 1:17 These verses from scripture help to explain how I feel about ICHTHYSdesigns and the opportunity it provides to reach out to people with my ministry of creativity, which I value as a gift from God and my vocation. In 1989, after designing a stole for a newly ordained priest, I was encouraged to consider offering my talent to a greater circle of people. I began by visiting seminaries and attending church conventions, to share my love for liturgical design and promote my ministry and business. I have grown spiritually in the process of stretching my God-given talents, and have worked with many wonderful people across the United States, in Mexico, Canada and overseas in the years since making that first stole. I live in the greater metropolitan area of Houston, Texas and am an active layperson at Christ Church Cathedral, Houston. Each commission is designed for a specific person or worship space after discussion, planning and prayer. I believe the best part of what I have to offer is individual custom-designed liturgical garments and hangings at a very reasonable cost. Each person or church that I work for has a new creation. Custom design, sizes and fabrics are part of what makes this work special for me, and unique for my clients. I have been an accomplished seamstress for over 35 years, and I individually design and sew all of my products. I tell clients that prayers have been ‘sewn in’ - for their ministry and for the needs of others. Hands-on participation is an integral part of what my ministry, in this business, means to me. In the spring and fall I travel around the country displaying at seminaries and church conventions.
